City Council and Frisco ISD Board Elections May 2018
2018 Frisco City Council Elections
There are some important elections coming up, Frisco! On May 7th, there will be elections not just for the city council, but also for the school board. The ballots are now set in stone, for the two city council seats that are up for grabs, as well as for the one member of the Frisco ISD school board. The two city council spots open are those of Jeff Cheney, who has served all of his term limits, and John Keating, who is making a bid for the Texas House District 33.
The candidates for Cheney’s spot include Eric Hall, Terri Green, and Shona Huffman. For Mayor Pro Tem Keating’s spot, we have Cindy Asche, Laxmi Tummala, Bill Woodward, and Michael Lang.
There are two school board members who are running for re-election, but against whom, no opposition has been mounted. These are Bryan Dodson and Chad Rudy. However, Renee Ehmke has decided that she will not run for re-election, having already served twelve years on the school board. The three candidates vying for her seat include Anjali Shirvaikar, Phil Ramirez, and Steven Noskin.
In addition to these positions, there are several issues that are also going to be voted on during this election cycle. One is whether or not Frisco wants to legalize selling alcohol beverages. Texas’ laws surrounding the sale of alcohol are labyrinthine, and this issue has only reached ballot because of a petition. It is, however, one of the most commonly permissible levels of sale.
Now that you know what seats are open and who is going to be on the ballot, make sure you get out there and vote on May 7th!
