'The Star' Opening in Frisco in August 2016
The Star Opening in Frisco in August
“The Star” is still on track for an opening in August, right here in Frisco. It’s slated to become not only the home for the Dallas Cowboys, but also for the students of Frisco ISD. While the complex has been widely promoted for the Cowboys, much of its function is to provide a space for the youth of Frisco to practice and compete. When is it going to officially open? If they stay on their current schedule, there will be a big event marking the opening of The Star on the 27th of August. This event is going to specifically be for the youth of Frisco, with matchups being made between varsity football teams as part of the celebrations.
Cowboys Football and Frisco ISD Partnership
This complex is a result of cooperation between Frisco, the school system, and the Cowboys. Just off of the Tollway, it will have outdoor practice fields, an indoor stadium that will seat 12,000 fans, and underground parking garages. Nearby, restaurants, shopping, and theaters are slated to open, starting in early 2017. There will even be a convention center! One of the ultimate goals of this venture was to create a gathering place for the people of Frisco—not just for those that enjoy watching football, but for everyone.
It was very important to everyone involved that the stadium be as great for students as for the professionals who would use it. Special considerations have been made in order to help make the stadium functional not just the Cowboys, but for the youth teams who will also be using it. Supporting 12,000 seats, bench seating has also been included in the bowl, specifically to provide a place for high school bands to play during games.
Once the project is completed and built out over 1.5 billion dollars will have been spent.
