About Dallas-Fort Worth- Metro Area
If you were wondering what the larger half of Dallas-Fort Worth “Metroplex”, it is Dallas. Similar to what people happen to think of Texas, they think about Dallas the same way, a big, busy, rich, successful self-confident cosmopolitan. Thanks to its central location compared to other cities and states of the U.S, Dallas has proved to be a regional destination that is popular with a variety of business, large and small with a number of fortune 500 corporate headquarters located here. Regional economics, a supportive tax environment (no state income tax) and employer friendly laws make this a popular relocation destination.
Another contributing factor is that the business climate is favorable here with a well-educated work force and excellent university system with many skilled workers available. Even though the immediate area offers little oil in terms of production, Dallas has experienced growth with the Texas oil fracking boom with energy production being a major factor in the state and regional economy.

Since Dallas has experienced and gained continuous growth, there is no surprise that it has a strong economy today and a population that is wealthy, which has endowed the city with much cultural assets and parks. The cultural landmarks that are in abundance include theaters, the Dallas Museum Art, Meyerson Symphony Center, and the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Dallas Theater Center.
If you happen to be a sports fan, you could cheer for major team leagues such as the NFL Cowboys, NBA Mavericks, MLB Rangers and NHL Stars, all drawing the attention of a strong national and local following. If you compare Dallas with other places in the country, you will notice North Dallas has comparatively a greater number of retail stores and restaurants per capita based on a higher level of discretionary income.
Impressive Suburb Communities
Dallas consists of an impressive network of city suburbs that are spreading in every direction, especially towards the North, Northwest and Northeast. Plano, Frisco, Allen Prosper and Celina are some of the suburbs that are growing at an incredible rate attracting families with exceptionally rated public schools and family lifestyle. These middle to upper-class suburbs offer reasonably priced homes, many employers and numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities for kids.
Other well-established communities include Grapevine, Flower Mound, Southlake and Colleyville to the West. The common factors with these suburbs are they have plenty of jobs, strong schools, good home values and high household incomes.
