The Community of Plano Texas
The best word to describe the city of Plano is diverse. Just a couple of minutes’ drive from North Dallas, the city offers a wide spectrum of attractions including the famous Rail Museum, Courtyard Theatre and the effervescent downtown Plano. Add to it the verdant green that embraces the city inside out and the highly supportive city administration has been a reason behind the growth of this city. Plano is also one of the shopping nerve centers of Texas as the city houses some of the best shopping malls in Texas. A planned city historically well-connected to the other parts of the state, Plano boasts being a home to a legion of Fortune 500 companies as well.
‘Plano’ is a Spanish word which means flat. It was a name given by the locals in the mid 1880s to signify the local flat terrain. During 1980s, the city became a favored destination for many of the large companies that have their headquarters now in the city. Toyota, HP, Ericson, Fedex, Jamba Juice, WeWork, Boeing, are only a few the corporations that bolster this driving local economy.
The city soon became one of the largest suburban settlements of North Dallas and was declared the wealthiest city in America in 2010 by The United States Census Bureau. The planned city is bordered by adjacent cities which provides ample shopping and entertainment opportunties. More importantly, Plano serves as an important commuter city in the region. Even the residence of the neighboring cities of Frisco and McKinney come to the city to take advantage of DART to reach other parts of the Dallas metro areas. The city is served by major US highways and freeways. US Highway 75, Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike and Texas State Highway 121 while Texas State Highway 289 servers an artery through the heart of the city.
Plano: The Safest City
The city was deservingly ranked as the safest city in the United States by Forbes magazine in 2010. It enjoys the lowest crime rate in the country and the car crash rate is also unbelievably low compared to the national figures. If these are some factors behind Plano real estate growth, the employment rate of the city cannot be ignored as a prime growth stimulant. J. C. Penney and Frito-Lay are considered the pioneer of the present industrial boom in the city and Bank of America Home Loans, HP Enterprise Services Toyota and Capital One are now some of the biggest employers in Plano.
The Plano Independent School District serves as the axis of education in Plano and surrounding areas. The City has also been described by the Money Magazine as one of the best places to live in America and Salary.com named it the ‘best place to build wealth’ in America. However, low property taxes, affordable traffic and cooperative administration are some of the reasons behind low cost of living here. Plano homes for sale are unbelievably affordable.
